What Fakespot did
Fakespot was a browser extension and website that analysed the authenticity of online product reviews. You gave it a product listing, it re-graded the reviews it judged unreliable, and returned a letter grade for the listing. Mozilla acquired it in 2023 and shipped it inside Firefox.
What happened to it
Fakespot shut down on July 1, 2025. Its pages now serve a shutdown notice, the browser integrations were retired, and Premium subscriptions were cancelled. If you are here because your Fakespot extension stopped working, that is why.
